Search Engine Optimization

With more than 250 million daily searches being performed through Google alone, the need for prominent visibility is a critical business need that is essential to making sure your customers find you before they find your competitors. Achieving visibility requires carefully planned search engine optimization (SEO).

SEO tactics ensure that your website is visible by search engine crawlers, which can improve your organic rankings. Search engine optimization (SEO) advertising is a highly targeted form of advertising that can effectively increase search engine placement, site traffic and qualified leads to your website. Hanapin Marketing uses a step by step process to achieve higher rankings with our SEO services.

Comprehensive keyword research

The best approach to optimizing content for search engines is to first understand your audiences as well as your competitors. What do customers search for? What keywords do they use? How does the competition rank? Once this information is known, the best optimization strategy begins with effective keyword usage.

Hanapin Marketing will initiate the keyword research process by evaluating and identifying keywords that are important to target for your site. We will also evaluate your current site's analytics data to identify the actual keywords visitors use to find your site and from what sources they arrive. We will then conduct comprehensive keyword research to define the keywords searchers use to find your site. We will identify popular keywords, keyword phrases, and variations on keywords. We will also analyze your current, or baseline, visibility for popular keywords to determine how effectively your site is optimized for those keywords. Timeframe needed for keyword research is typically 2-3 weeks.

Development of keyword phrases and content strategy

We determine the keywords we want to target based upon raw goals for organic traffic, research on what keywords currently generate traffic and what keywords should generate traffic, and other available resources.

Content creation will be partially dependent on the keyword selection. If we target long tail keywords, for which the competition is low, we will need to write a large quantity of content. If we target general keywords, for which the competition is high, we will need to author high-quality content but will need it in only a low quantity.

Increasing organic traffic

Hanapin approaches increasing organic traffic with two different methods. We first focus on general terms, which are naturally going to target people in the 1st and 2nd stages of the buying cycle. While these terms can generate a lot of traffic individually, they're also very competitive, which is why we also focus on long tail keywords. These keywords are naturally going to target people in the 2nd and 3rd stages of the buying cycle. While these terms don't generate a lot of traffic individually, they do collectively, and they are relatively easier to rank for.

Analysis, recommendations and implementation of improvements to site including:

  • HTML page tagging and document structure
  • Content changes/recommendations
  • Site navigational recommendations

After the planning process is complete, we will be working with live visitors and real-time data. We will now be able to analyze web analytics and receive feedback from you to determine what is and is not working. Put another way, we will now be able to see how the keyword research, site architecture recommendations, et. al. actually perform for you and your target audience. Our recommendations will be given in a prioritized order, based on our goals and the potential results of those recommendations. For example, if a general keyword is ranked on the second page of Google, our recommendations will revolve around moving to the first page of Google - because of the potential for high amounts of traffic. If we're hitting our traffic goals but conversions are low, then our recommendations will revolve around increasing the quality of traffic and/or increasing the conversion rate.

Hanapin can perform analysis and make recommendations for site improvements, either in regards to conversion rates, usability or SEO.

Hanapin Marketing will deliver:

Keyword report: Based on monthly search counts, this report indicates both popular (and unpopular) keywords used by searchers on Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Ranking report: This report indicates how well ranked the current site is for popular search terms on Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Keyword implementation recommendations: These recommendations will summarize strategies for keyword placement on your site.
Ongoing keyword maintenance: Hanapin Marketing will add and remove keyword phrases to your master list as we determine how well the phrases perform.

Hanapin Marketing will also implement:

Website analytics and crawling tools
Hanapin Marketing will install Google Analytics on to review baseline visitor behavior and track additional results of SEO efforts (visitors, referring domains, keywords used, etc.).

We will also use several search engine reporting tools and additional search directories to improve and increase the crawl rate of your website. These tools include Google Webmaster Tools, Google SiteMaps, Yahoo Site Explorer, Google Local Business Center, Yahoo Local, etc.

Code optimization
Hanapin Marketing will review the code used on your website to ensure that all content is being properly indexed by search engine crawlers. We will incorporate ALT tags and a site map to also facilitate search engines to see all of the content that appears on the site.

Link building & linking strategies
Hanapin Marketing will explore link opportunities for your website. We firmly believe that the creation of high-quality content will generate links naturally without having to solicit them via email. This process is known as "linkbait" and has three stages:

  • Creation of content (authoring high-quality content)
  • Packaging of content (formatting the content, determining the media - PDF, HTML, video, etc.)
  • Promotion of content (how do we let the world know about it)
